I think Indy will be accepted, provided the film is actually made within the next couple of years. Even if Ford is not as well-known to the under-15 crowd, Lucas and Spielberg certainly are.

Another reason is that the internet has not only made the world smaller, but the generation gap as well. It's not unusual to meet teenagers that are as well-versed in the pop culture from 20 years ago, as they are their own.

Likewise, the kids of the 70's and 80's grew up, but didn't have to give up their childhood heroes. They now live on in DVD, websites, and videogames. This, in return, has created an adult market that feeds on a mix of nostalgia and cutting-edge technology.
