: Okay Short Round - but as a member that continues the practise what do you get from it personally? When you're writing do you imagine Short Round to be you or is it a character that shares your name?

Personally, I view our characters with our names and looking like us (maybe a little older or younger, depending on the story), but I do not view them as us. We are sitting in front of our computers in AD 2000, while those characters are obviously not. ;)

As a matter of fact, the same forum character can have different mannerisms and personalities from one story to the next, and thus be a different person. For example, I would definitely say that the Goodsport character (notice that I'm not saying 'me') in the Tessa and The Stranger in the Plane story is obviously different than the Goodsport character in the Indiana Jones and the Golden Spider story, in mannerisms, personalities, situatio, etc. Basically, that's because they actually are two different people. And neither of them is really 'me' in real life.

In short, it's just another forum novel but with characters like us in there. I don't see why that is any different than forum novels without 'us' in it.

I do agree with that '.' person on two things, though:

1) I'm also glad that we have actual Indiana Jones stories on these forums now (even with our characters in them), since this is and Indiana Jones website.

2) A few authors (although not most) here of the various stories involving 'us' were kind of 'role-playing' a bit much in the stories, not realizing that their character in the story is not really them.

    Hope that helped! :)
