Chapter 19

Indy woke up early the next morning and left to plan the wedding with Eliot and Patar. They walked along the shops as Eliot asked,
“Are you sure about this, Indy?”
“Never felt sure about this in a long time, Eliot,” smiling as he picked out a suit jacket from a vendor.
“I hope you’ll make Kate happy.”
“What do you mean by that?”
Eliot’s face turned red as Patar said,
“Come on, no fuss now. Indiana Jones is marrying a fine lady, at last.”
Indy laughed as he said,
“My Dad’s going to disappointed about this.”
“You’re on speaking terms with your father?” Eliot asked.
“Have been for twelve years. He was excited when I gave Kate a ring.”
“How does your father react to Kate?”
“She reminds him of Mom,” Indy said, “Sweet, intelligent, beautiful.”
Eliot smiled as they walked along the shops to find things for the wedding.

Kate stood in her long white slip, rummaging in her suitcase for a dress to wear. God, I’m getting married in India. Mom and Dad would be surprise and so would Grandpa. , she thought. Her grandfather was still alive and well back in New York, happy that his only grandchild was getting married. She thought back to the day when she and Indy told him about it. Jack Tyler was excited and said,
“My little Katie, your parents would have loved to see this.”
“Thank you, Grandpa,” smiling.
“And Indy,” clasping a hold of his shoulder, “Keep an eye on my girl, she’s all I have in the world.”
“I plan to,” grinning at Kate.
“Wonderful,” as he called to the butler to bring the champagne to celebrate.
“Hello, Katherine. What are you up to?” a voice called out.
Kate snapped out of her thoughts, turned around and saw Marion.
“I’m just daydreaming that’s all.”
“I see. Where’s Indy?”
“He left with Eliot and Patar to find things for the wedding.”
“What wedding?”
“Our wedding,” smiling, “He suggested that we’d get married today”
As Kate rummaged through her suitcase, Marion asked,
“How did you do it?”
“Do what?”
“Get Indy to commit to you.”
“Nothing, actually,” turning around, “ I was flattered when he asked me to marry him two months ago.”
“How long how you known him?”
“A year, why?”
Marion stayed silent as Kate asked,
“What is it, Marion?”
“Did you know I lived with Indy for while?”
“He told me.”
“He did?”
Nodding, “Indy and I have no secrets except for what happened years ago.”
“What did he tell you?”
“He said you and him got together years back and you left him,” defiantly, “He was hurt all over again.”
“Why did you leave him?”
“I know that Indy did not want to be tied down with a baby. I left so he wouldn’t find out.”
Marion stared at her and said,
“And you approve of his career?”
“No, I don’t, but its’ what he has to do.”
“And you believe that?”
“Yes,” staring at Marion, “I do.”

A few hours later, Indy and Kate were standing in front of a priest on the balcony of the hotel. Indy never saw Kate looking so beautiful in the simple white dress and veil she found in the marketplace. The priest said to them,
“Do you, Henry Jones, take this woman to be your lawfully wedded wife?”
“I do,” staring at Kate.
“Do you, Katherine Tyler, take this man to be your lawfully wedded husband?”
“I do,” she said proudly.
“I pronounce you man and wife. You may kiss the bride.”
Indy lifted her veil, looked in her eyes, and kissed her.
“I love you, Indiana Jones,” she whispered.
“I love you, too,” smiling at her just as the door of the balcony opened.
