I think Indy would have loved all those classic action/swashbuckler movies of the twenties and thirties, most notably Douglas Fairbanks, and the whole Errol film filmography, especially The Adventures of Robin Hood, Captain Blood, and the Sea Hawk. Surely, he enjoyed the exotic adventure films like Gunga Din, Beau Geste, Lost Horizan, etc.. Methinks that Westerns like Stagecoach would fit the bill, and, with the advent of the forties, film noir and Bogie's world weary anti-heroes would also catch his interest. Let's not forget Tarzan (though the best ones were in the forties), anything by Howard Hawks (Marion is very much like Hawks' heroines), screwball comedies (Indy basically tried to copy their style during his adverserial mating dance with Willie. Too bad Willie wasn't Myrna Loy, Carole Lombard, or Barbara Stanwyck) and, of course, movie serials.
