I agree, it was definitely Tan in the movies

I really think the whole "stone" thing came about because in bright sunlight in the Cairo scenes the shirt does in fact appear very light. However, in other scenes it is darker, and more "tan". Anyone who has done some photography knows you can certainly make a tan shirt look "stone" in bright light. That's my analysis, though I haven't seen the Noel Howard shirt yet. (I hope to soon!)

Well let me tell you, when I visited Noel Howard a few months ago, he showed me an actual shirt used in the films and it was definitely more of a tan colour than stone. I don't remember Noel saying which film it was from, but its shredded appearance resembled that of the shirt at the end of TOD. I hope this helps a little.
