Hey everyone. Now that 2000 is upon us and the world has not come to
an end, here are my favorite films of 1999. It's perhaps a bit
premature and incomplete, being that there were several notable films
I have yet to see (namely ANYWHERE BUT HERE, THE HURRICANE, and
TUMBLEWEEDS), but here are my choices so far from what I have:

My top ten list for 1999, in alphabetical order:
AMERICAN BEAUTY
BEING JOHN MALKOVICH
BLAIR WITCH PROJECT
BOYS DON'T CRY
EYES WIDE SHUT
THE GREEN MILE
THE INSIDER
THE SIXTH SENSE
TOY STORY 2

...and my favorite film of the year is:
THE IRON GIANT

HONORABLE MENTIONS go out to:
ARLINGTON ROAD
THE CIDER HOUSE RULES
CRADLE WILL ROCK
FIGHT CLUB
MAGNOLIA
MAN ON THE MOON
THE MATRIX
RUN LOLA, RUN
THE STRAIGHT STORY
THE TALENTED MR. RIPLEY
TARZAN
THE THOMAS CROWN AFFAIR
THREE KINGS
TITUS

The film that I was initially both fascinated yet disappointed by
while watching, then liked, then hated, then liked again-yet-am-still-
contemplating-it-for-years-to-come-whatever-the-case, yet can
understand why others hate it:
EYES WIDE SHUT

The film that I was intially disappointed by, then realized I had
liked even if it didn't measure up to my expectations:
STAR WARS -- EPISODE I

My least favorite (read: nicely-put way of saying WORST) films of
1999:
END OF DAYS
STIGMATA
WILD WILD WEST

...and the most unbearable film of the year for me was (and I know
I'll get burned for this by some people):
BRINGING OUT THE DEAD

...the biggest disappointment I had from a great director since Terry
Gilliam's FEAR AND LOATHING IN
