According to THE MAKING OF RAIDERS paperback, with the exception of the establishing shot of Washington DC and the plate photography of the Pan Am clipper in Long Beach (probably all second-unit and/or ILM effects crew work), none of RAIDERS was shot in the US. Even the Washington stuff was shot in Great Britain. I guess it was easiest to find a suitable 'university' in England near Elstree Studios, so that they didn't have to fly the mostly English RAIDERS crew to America, or hire an all-new American crew just for a few scenes.

I think I'll dig that MAKING OF paperback out, and see what the name of that English school was...
