I recommend NOT using the standard dressing on lambskin for the very results you ended up with, but don't panic! It should eventually soak in over a period of time, though you may as well forget the distessing you've obtained to date, as what you've done (though good) is restore the moisture and surface BACK into the leather that you were trying to "age". Just hang your jacket in a dry airy location, and each morning take a clean dry rag and rub vigorously. I've even used a pair of panty hose and buffed the leather surface to bring the surface back up, as well as pull some of the tacky finish off the leather. You just need to allow the jacket time now to soak it in, and every morning buff the heck out of it, then hang it back up again. Eventually you'll be back on track, but you'll be starting all over with your natural distressing again. I suggest using the Pecards Motorcycle lotion on lambskin, or Lexol. Regards. Michaelson

: I'm afraid I might have done a terrible injustice to my Wested's
: lambskin. It was finally getting a "distressed" look to it from
: normal wear, so I thought it about time to treat it. I used pecards
: on it because I thought I read in a post by Michaelson (forgive me
: if I'm misquoting) that it helped even out the grain. One thing that
: always bugged me about my coat is the right sleeve has a
: bigger grain near the cuff and it wrinkles different than the rest of
: the coat.

: Anyway, I put on the pecards, let it sit for a day or two, went back
: and was shocked! My coat went from a dark brown to now
: looking almost black! All of the scuffs and "wear" are now gone
: and it looks like a new black coat. I was still VERY tacky, even
: after rubbing off excess yesterday. I put it in the dryer in some old
: sheets and that seemed to help the tackiness, but not the color
: or scuffs.

: Is there any thing I can do to get it back to the way it was, short of
: acetone - I'm not too sure I want to "experiment" with the
: chemical treatments? Any help would be GREATLY appriciated.

: Mike
