Another Raiders 'your slip is showing' scene

I never noticed this until watching Raiders on DVD for the first time, but in the scene where Katanga tells Indy, "You have most important friends," you can see the coast of France on the horizon. Indy boarded a ship in Cairo, which sailed all night bound for England, and the next day they're still within sight of land?
