: : : : Here ya go...Have fun with it and add on, Tessa
: : : : Chapter 1
: : : : June 1972
: : : : "Dad?" a girl called out, looking around the house.
: : : : Whew, he's not home, the girl thought as she went upstairs to the attic, Thank God.
: : : : Nineteen-year old Lauren Jones looked around through boxes to find old clothes she had packed when she and her father moved here when her mother died three years ago. Sifting through boxes, she found her father's and peered inside. She pulled out a wooden box, with an eagle carved on it, and thought, Mom gave him this box on their wedding day.
: : : : Lauren wondered if she should open the box. As far as she could remember, her father forbid her and her older brothers to even touch the box, let alone open it. What harm could it do to me? as she took the box and went to her room. Locking her door, she placed the box on her desk and opened it,
: : : : It's nothing,as she sifted through papers and pictures, letters Mom and Dad wrote to each other. Pictures...as she came across a faded envelope and opened it. Lauren gasped at what she saw -- a picture of a woman she never saw before. She turned the picture over and saw written I love you, Deirdre.
: : : : "Who the hell is Deirdre?" she wondered out loud as she heard the front door slam and a voice,
: : : : "Hey Laurie. Where are ya?"
: : : : Lauren hid the box under her bed and unlocked the door as her brothers came up the stairs. She opened the door and said,
: : : : "Back so soon?"
: : : : "We came to see if you wanted to go swimming," Michael said.
: : : : Lauren was amazed at her identical twin brothers on how much different they were. Michael was always the one brother who was concerned for her and got involved with everything. Eric was a classical party-goer brother who wore his hair long and went from one girl to the next. They both inherited looks from their mother, the typical blonde haired type and their father's hazel eyes. Lauren looked like their father and got their mother's deep blue eyes. But all of the Jones kids were smart, like their parents before them. Lauren smiled at Michael as Eric said,
: : : : "I told Mike that you probably have plans with Tom or Jacks."
: : : : Lauren grimaced and said, "Jacks is visiting her brother in Califorina. And Tom is the last person I would want to see."
: : : : Jacqueline Shannon, or better known as Jacks, and Lauren Jones were best friends since they were little. When Jacks' mother died giving birth to her and her brothers' already living on their own, Lauren's parents invited her father and Jacks to live with them for a while. They had a lot in common -- the youngest, the only girls, same tastes in music, and they looked like their fathers. It was like having a sister in a way, Lauren mused.
: : : : Thomas Raleigh was another matter. He was one of her archeology professors at Barnett and they had started dating after she finished taking his archeology class her freshman year. Tom was too concern about appearances and their age difference and kept breaking off the relationship several times. Tom is just paranoid, that's all, she thought as Eric said,
: : : : "Get your suit, Laurie. We'll meet you downstairs."
: : : : Lauren looked at her bed and thought Oh well, the box can wait until tomorrow, as she grabbed her suit and went downstairs to join her brothers.
: : : : Chapter 2
: : : : The next day, Lauren pulled out the box when her brothers and father went out to the store. She dumped the contents of the box and sifted through things when she came across a letter and skimmed the contacts dropping out of the University ... leaving London... going home to Scotland ... my ship leaves at one . And the letter was signed Deirdre.
: : : : Lauren smiled and thought to herself, That's where I'll start. London, then Scotland. as she grabbed her backpack, threw some clothes in, and zipped up the pack. She lugged the bag downstairs, went to the phone, and called to make the reservations for a plane.
: : : : She grabbed some money from the canister in the kitchen, made sure she had her checkbook, and left. But before she left, she wrote a note, put Mike's name on it, and placed it on the kitchen table. She took one last look at the place, slammed the door shut and headed for the airport.
: : : : Ok, add on you guys, Tessa
