: : ... I'm glad you like it. Hopefully others do too! :)
: : Actually, the story (at least in the first part of the story) was inspired by many different sources, including Indiana Jones (of course), The Maltese Falcon, Tales of the Gold Monkey, and others. I tried drawing inspiration from them, although I didn't copy scenes from them - copying scenes from other sources exactly and just changing the names and stuff is pretty dispicable (unless its meant to be a spoof), and I try to avoid doing that as much as possible. The story (what I wrote of it, at least) was definitely my own (and I made up the 'Golden Spider' myself... I just realized the coincidence between that and the 'Gold Monkey' from the TV show, but I assure you that I didn't have the 'Gold Monkey' in mind when I first wrote about the 'Golden Spider'. That was just coincidence).
: : And you're very observant - you're probably the only person to notice that the Goodsport character in Golden Spider was initially inspired by Sammy Spade from The Maltese Falcon. I didn't copy him exactly, but instead took some traits of his, mixed it in with some of my own and created a new character (I did the same thing with Indiana Riggs and the pilot from Tales of the Gold Monkey, and Megara with just about any film noir femme fatale, etc.). As the story went on, though, events happen that truly fleshes out each character as unique... so don't expect Goodsport to be exactly like Sam Spade throughout the story because, well, Goodsport is Goodsport. ;)
: : Unfortunately, I've been so busy at work lately that I haven't been able to write the next chapter yet. I haven't forgotten about it, though, and I hope to be writing it shortly. I just hope that no one has given up on the story yet.
