Chapter 1 [The Beginning] (written by Short Round)

February 3, 1999.
Somewhere in California...
"Leave me alone!" Shorty mumbled, "AAAHHHHH!"
He then woke up.
"Man! A nightmare," Shorty said to himself.
Shorty got out of bed and walked to the bathroom. He noticed a note on the window, which read, 'Shorty. I have to rendezvous with a friend at Lou's Cafe. Be home later.'
"Not a surprise," Shorty said. He did what he had to and got dressed in his usual garb - a baggy shirt and his green baggy jeans.
Shorty walked out of the apartment, threw his skateboard down and hopped on it. He waved to people he knew as he cruised down the sidewalk. A guy was sitting on the sidewalk with his feet outstretched and Shorty did a skateboard-jump over his legs. A hand came out and knocked Shorty off his skateboard to the ground.
"Aaahhhhhhhhh..." a voice exclaimed, "if it isn't the Short-Meister."
"Shut up, Craig!" Shorty retaliated, picking up both his skateboard and backpack.
"So where's my homework?" Craig asked.
"I have it," Shorty replied.
"Where?" inquired Craig.
"Right-" Shorty began, "Whoa whoa Craig! What's that?" as Craig
looked, Shorty punched him in the stomach and shoved Craig into
his nearby flunkies.
"Let's get him!" yelled Craig, as he and his buddies chased after Shorty.

- - -

"Hi. My name is MichaelsonÖ General Michaelson."
Michaelson and Goodsport shook hands.
"Hey Goodsport, I was sent here to give you instructions on your next mission," Michaelson continued.
"Yes sir," Goodsport replied, "I live with my little buddy Shorty who knows how to driveÖ and he is only thirteen. I taught him myself. He travels frequently with me. Can he come along?"
"Ahh," pondered Michaelson, "he will be allowed to go with you if he has a high enough IQ to drive."
"Yeah, he's something," said Goodsport, "except that he can be a smart-aleck at times."
"Oh, I see," Michaelson answered, "anyways, hereÖ I have something for you."
Michaelson handed Goodsport a manila envelope with the words 'For Your Eyes Only' printed on them.
"What's this?" Goodsport asked.
"Your instructions, Goodsport. Shorty may see them, but no one else besides you and him can give any information whatsoever about what is in that envelope. It is highly confidential. After you are done reading and memorizing it, destroy it."
Goodsport stuffed it in his briefcase.
"Okay, sir. See you aroundÖ hopefully," Goodsport concluded.
They both shook hands.

- - -

Short Round glided down the sidewalk on his skateboard, dodging
people. Meanwhile Craig and his buddies struggled to catch up.
Shorty board-hopped over a trash can and as he came down he bumped into a pedestrian.

"Uh, excuse me sorry..." Shorty picked up his skateboard.
Craig and his flunkies were getting closer after Shorty's delay.

Shorty was skating into a less populated area, and Craig and the
gang were catching up more than ever!
"Here goes!" Shorty said to himself.
Shorty came off the sidewalk and into the street, grabbing the
closest car back bumper. Craig and his gang stopped at the edge of the
sidewalk watching Shorty go away.
"Yeah!" Shorty cheered to himself.
Shorty let go as they were nearing a red light and skated towards the sidewalk.

- - -

Goodsport was going down the street in his Delorian. Traffic had backed him up. Supposedly a helicopter had been going around searching for an ex-convict, Jim or James something, and cop cars had been everywhere. Supposedly this convict was part of the DWO, according to Michaelson. Whoever he was must have a real price on his head. But Goodsport didn't care. He was glad he didn't have to go after this James guy.
"If Michaelson or Micah aske me to go after him, I'd call in sick for a month. But I doubt I'd ever will." Goodsport was sure of himself.
Suddenly a few punks had jay walked in front of the car.
"Man," Goodsport began to himself. "They must be desperate."
For some apparent reason, this B.M.W. caught Goodsports attention. A guy in a trench coat had been behind the wheel. He looked like Don Stroud in a way. Goodsport noticed the guy had a ring on his finger. Goodsport looked at the crystal ring on his right hand.
"Identical!" Goodsport said to himself. "Far out."
Goodsport's attention had still been on the mysterious trench coat guy. The guys passenger side window had rolled down. Goodsport did the same.
"Sir?" the man asked.
"Yeah?" Goodsport replied.
"Do you know where Lyon Estates is?" The guy asked.
"Past Twin Pines mall in Hill Valley." Goodsport said.
"Thanks." The man said as he closed his window.
Anytime Goodsport thought.

- - -

"Good, I lost 'em," Shorty thought, riding up to the back door of the school.
Shorty walked in the hall.
"Why didn't I get up any earlier?" Shorty said to himself.
"Hey Shorty!" A voice boomed from behind.
"Huh?" Shorty turned around.
"You're late again. What happened?" The female voice said.
"Oh, it was Craig again. He chased me home. I didn't finish his homework. He's a complete asshole." Shorty was pissed.
"It's ok. Come on in class, you're late."

"Mr. Round, you are late!" the British teacher said.
"I had a little trouble on the way down," replied Shorty.
"What kind of trouble?" asked the teacher.
"Uh... well, I was chased by these punks agai--"
"Mr. Short Vincent John Round!" the teacher exclaimed. "This is the seventeenth time you made that excuse this school year!"
"But I--"
"No more excuses! Go to the principal's office!"

- - -

Goodsport went up the stairs and into the apartment room. He threw his jacket on the back of the door, kicked his shoes off and plopped onto the couch. He opened up the manila envelope, which had a map of Peru in it. While reading the papers for an hour, Goodsport discovered that people had been raiding museums in South America in search of two halves of a powerful crystal. They believed that if they found both halves of the crystal and put them in some sort of a religious ceremony, that they would become invincible, like in Raiders of the Lost Ark.
"In the words of Shorty," thought Goodsport, chuckling to himself " 'this is some scary crap' !"

- - -

Short Round was sitting in the principal's office.
"So, you're making up all these excuses just so you can sleep late, huh?" the principal asked.
"No, really! These punks chased me!" Shorty said.
"OkayÖ who?"
"Craig and his gang--" Shorty replied.
"Craig!" the principal exclaimed, "Leave my nephew alone! Stop bothering people, and my nephew Craig would never harm a fly!"
"He'd harm a bull, though!" Shorty mumbled.
"What!?" the principal fumed, "You're expelled. Take your skateboard and get out!"

The principal thumbed the microphone on his desk.
"Craig T. Nelson, come to the principal's office." he waited.
The door opened as Craig walked in alone without his buddies.
"Yes uncle?" Craig said.
"You did your job well Craig," The principal began. "And you will be rewarded."
A grin spread across Craigs face. The principal opened up his drawer and took the fake contents out. A pink glow came from the secret apartment. He picked out a precious gem the size of a football and in a way, the shape. The ends were pointy.
"I think we are going to have to book passage to Peru soon..."

- - -

The door to the apartment slammed.
"Whoa, what's the matter Shorty?" Goodsport asked.
"I got kicked out of school because of Craig!" Shorty was pissed.
"No way!?" Goodsport agreed.
"Craig got pissed and chased me, and I was late for school. They thought I was lying. So that's how it isÖ"
"Well, put those troubles behind you, Shorty," Goodsport announced,. "we got hired for a mission by the agency."
"Cool!" Short Round said.
"You're coming along too. We're going to Peru," Goodsport said.
"When?"
"Tomorrow. HereÖ you'll have to read this though."
Goodsport handed Shorty the envelope.

- - -

Shorty and Goodsport moved their way to board the plane. After waiting in line, they finally seated themselves.

Right in back of them a man, the build of the principal, in a black Fedora, trench coat, and wire frame glasses put down his Gun and Ammo magazine slightly to where only his eyes were showing.
"Craig..." The principal had said. "I was right; They're here."

"This is it, Shorty. Our first mission!" Goodsport said.
"Yeah, this is gonna be cool!" Short Round jumped in his seat.
"Attention passengers." the stewardess said, "our in-flight movie today will be Back to the Future with Michael J. Fox and Christopher Lloyd."
Shorty reclined in his seat.
"Yep, this is gonna be cool," Shorty whispered to himself.

Chapter 2 [The Next Chapter] (written by Goodsport)

"I don't get it," Short Round announced, glancing from the top of the map to the bottom, "the guy at the museum in Lima said that the Fountain would be here!"
Goodsport turned around. "Shorty, these maps are never accurate to the exact inch. Besides, in these tunnels, it could be anywhere!"
The two explorers continued down the cold, dry mountain tunnel. They were no closer to finding the Fountain of Youth than when they arrived on top of the Andes Mountains several hours earlier.
Goodsport slowly illuminated the map with his own flashlight as Short Round asked, "Why are we looking for the Fountain of Youth? Aren't we going after some crystal?"
"Yup!" replied Goodsport, "But the ancient texts we found in the museum stated something about a crystal being found next to the Fountain of Youth. I couldn't get all of it, since my Spanish isn't that goodÖ only what little I learned in high school!"
"Geez, that long ago, huh?!?" gasped Short Round, "But didn't that Ponce de Leon dude search for the Fountain somewhere in Florida or Puerto Rico or wherever?"
Goodsport flashed a grin. "So, you do stay awake in class once in a while!" Seeing Short Round shoot a dirty look at him, Goodsport continued, "de Leon never found it in either place he looked, which could be because he searched in the wrong places. Besides, the satellite photos Michaelson gave me spotted a source of water somewhere inside this mountain."
"No way, dude!" Short Round proclaimed, "Satellites could see inside mountains now?!?"
Goodsport nodded as they rounded a corner. "Well, with infra-red and such."
"You hear that?" Short Round ran up several feet and perked up his ears. "Sounds like a stream!"
His elder companion flashed his flashlight forward as the two rushed up the tunnel in front of them.

- - -

The two men peered around the corner, surveying their prey through the dark tunnel.
"Guillermo, it seems like we're almost there!" the fat Peruvian said.
His slimmer companion shushed him to be quiet, waving at him with the photographs in his hand. "Quiet, Astacio, or they will hear us!"
"They would have heard us by now!" Astacio replied, glancing at Guillermo. "The Boss wants us to follow them. When they find the Fountain, they find the first half of the crystal. And when they find the crystalÖ"
The sentence was broken by the sound beeping from Guillermo's belt.
"Guillermo here," he answered, his ear close to the walkie-talkie.
"Did you find them?" the deep, booming voice of the Boss asked from the walkie-talkie's mouthpiece, "I can't wait out here in the helicopter all day!"
Guillermo nodded his head. "Sir, don't worry! We spotted them. They look like they are very close!"
"Good!" answered the Boss, "Don't forget about the photos."
Guillermo glanced quickly at the somewhat older photographs of the two explorers they were shadowing. "No, boss. If they find the Fountain, we push them inÖ"
"Öand take them out when they are young enough not to be able to resist, yet still old enough to tell us what they know about the crystal-halves!" the Boss finished the sentence.
Both Guillermo and Astacio glanced at the pictures in Guillermo's hand, confused at their superior's request. "Sir, are you sureÖ"
"Enough!" boomed the other end of the walkie-talkie, "Find them quickly. Out!"
The walkie-talkie chirped, indicating that the connection was cut. Guillermo clipped it back onto his belt.
The two men readied their revolvers as they quietly headed up the tunnel.

- - -

The narrow tunnel turned into an enormous cavern. Stalactites hung from the ceiling as the thick ice covering the walls made the entire cavern look chillier than it really was. Goodsport and Short Round gawked at the sheer size of the cavern, as they slowly marched forward. In the middle of the cavern was a bubbling fountain of water, surrounded by a swaying pond.
Goodsport and Short Round compared each other's satellite photos. They both agreed that they found what they were looking for.
"Okay, so where's the crystal?" Short Round pondered aloud.
Goodsport leaned over the Fountain. "I'm not even sure what the connection between the Fountain and the crystal is yet!"
The sudden 'ping' knocked Goodsport forcefully into the pond.
"GOODSPORT!" screamed Short Round. He turned around quickly to see to locals with revolvers sneak into the same entrance that they did. One of the locals' revolvers was smoking.

- - -

The winds were picking up on the mountaintop. If the two didn't come back soon, the Boss knew, the helicopter would have to fly off without them.

- - -

Short Round turned again to grab a younger-looking Goodsport out of the pond
"No, senor!" Guillermo bear-hugged Short Round, "We need him as young as the picture!"
Astacio lifted his revolver straight at Short Round's face. "We only need one of them to answer questions!"
As the lever was pulled pack on the revolver, Short Round kicked his foot back right into Guillermo's groin. As Guillermo let go, Short Round ducked just in time to avoid Astacio's bullet, which instead hit Guillermo in the chest. Guillermo's body splashed right into the pond.
Short Round body-slammed Astacio straight into the pond. Running on their bodies as a 'bridge', Short Round reached Goodsport and picked him up.
"Man, you've lost weight since a few minutes ago!" joked Short Round, as he suddenly saw a glint in pond.
A gurgling Astacio was turning his body around to grab Short Round's leg. Short Round stepped on Astacio's arm, stretching it out enough for Shorty to reach into the water and pull out the source of the glint.
"My God!" Short Round gasped, holding half of the crystal in one hand, and Goodsport in the other.
Feeling one of his 'bridges' standing up, Short Round gave a swift kick to Astacio's now-youthful face, knocking him out.
Running back onto solid ground, Short Round pocketed the crystal and scooped up the photographs Guillermo had dropped a few moments ago.
"Stop crying!" Short Round demanded of the now-lighter Goodsport. A moment later, the ground shook violently. Looking back, Short Round glanced to the far end of the cavern, only to see a giant boulder rolling to greet him.
"Well, I've always wanted to be like Indy!" revealed Short Round to a wailing Goodsport, the ground shaking harder as the stalactites began to fall. Short Round took off for the entrance he had entered, with the boulder in hot pursuit.

- - -

"So, did you give them the photos I asked you to?" the Boss asked his pilot, Enrique.
Enrique flashed a toothy smile. "Of course, sir!"
The Boss glanced slowly at the photos in his pilot's hands. "Then what are those?"
"These are the other photos you gave me. Extras, I guess."
"IDIOT!" the Boss gasped in horror, pointing at the photos, "You were supposed to give them those ones! The ones you gave them were too old!"
Enrique glanced at his reflection on the cockpit window. "Uh-oh!"
The ground began shaking furiously.
"TAKE OFF!!! TAKE OFF!!!" the Boss demanded, as Enrique desperately started the helicopter's engines.

- - -

Barely keeping his balance, Short Round reached the end of the tunnel. He gasped as he saw the tunnel led to the side of the mountain, with a drop straight down to the ground a ways below.
"Must've taken a wrong turn at the last intersection," Short Round mentioned to Goodsport, who was now clutching Short Round's jacket tightly.
The sound of a distant helicopter jerked Short Round's head upwards. "I didn't know there was a 'copter nearby!"
Then realizing the connection, Short Round lifted the photographs that he had in his other hand. He looked at the picture of Goodsport that looked just like the Goodsport now in his arms. "How did they expect him to answer any questions in that state?" Shorty asked himself.
The ground's suddenly violent shaking interrupted Short Round's thoughts. He swiveled around to see the boulder getting closer and closer through the tunnel.
Short Round then glanced forward to the tunnel exit's sudden drop. "Stuck between a rock and a hard place!" Short Round thought, ironically.

Well guys, that's it. The expanded chase scene was something I had in mind since I was writing it, but I thought I'd save it for some other time. I just wanted to spice it up a litte. There was some add ons I had really wanted to do after I read it over and over again hehe. This' my chapter 1 special edition hehe.
