Hows this for your answer: I'd been a lifelong fan of 007- the character - not just the movies, and would gladly tell anyone who'd listen that he was my favorite fictional character of all time. It seemed so radical since that type of discussion only seems to come up with literature buffs who'll swear up and down that the debate can only include Sherlock Holmes or character's created by Tolkien. Imagine my suprise when RAIDERS came out - a film that strictly adheres to Bond formula, right down to the opening gambit teaser that has no real bearing on the rest of the movie, except that instead of a spy, the main character was a 1930's archeologist!?!?!?
Well, that definately wasn't enough to change things, but by the time THE YOUNG INDIANA JONES CHRONICLES came to life, it had to be said: Indiana Jones was now my favorite fictional character of all time.
There are many similarities between the two, and the debate over quality could be argued unto death. The Bond films are many, and many of them are great quality. The Jones films are many (if you count the TV show as films) but the quality is much less competitive (TEMPLE will always have it's detractors, especially when the main instigator is none other than the films director! And the TV show only lasted for a few season for a reason).
None can be better than the other on that level - it is merely a matter of favorites.
Instead of as fight between the two, I personally would liek to see a team-up story set in the 1960's - an elder Indy could show the young, hot-shot Bond the ropes (or whips, excuse me) of great adventure!

: : I know I've asked quite a few of these questions. But I am curious, which do you like better, 007 or Indy? I prefer Indy but I don't think they can make 18 Indy films like 007 can though.
: Jones, Indiana Jones ... is the best! But I also like the 007 movies.
: Does James Bond has some TV series about his early years? I don't think so.
: Indy would just kick Bond's b*t! James Bond is a looser without all those gadgets he gets from Q.
