: HOW MCH MONEY DOES AN AVERERAGE ARCHEOLOGIST MAKE????
An archaeologist's pay really depends on what he does during the "off season." Most are employed by universities as professors. The salary of a professor varies immensely depending on seniority, academic certifications, and position. You can also work as a museum curator, like our friend Marcus Brody.
I had an archaeologist tell me (as I was first entering the field) that the only way to survive as an archaeologist was to marry a rich woman (or man if you're a female archaeologist :) ). Since I haven't found that woman yet... I'll continue teaching. The other option is to find a wealthy philanthropist who will fund you and your dig. This way, you can dig as often as your budget allows instead of just during the summer months.
Kind regards from a starving archaeologist,
Indy
