: The Hindenberg blew up in May 1937 in New Jersey and since LC takes place in 1938 they had to be on a different Zeppelin--probably a fictional one, but there were several Zeppelins besides the Hindenberg. In retrospect I'm surprised Indy's Dad didn't make some wisecrack like "Oh great, I hope we don't blow up like the Hindenberg" or something.

The airship that crashed was called the Hindenburg, after the former "Reichspräsident" and WWI-general Paul(von Beneckendorff und)von Hindenburg.
