It has always been my understanding that male pattern baldness is hereditary through the mother's line, so if the mother's father is bald, then her sons will be. Therefore, one would have to find out if Indy's grandfather on his mother's side was bald. This seems like an ominous task in hunting down this man, n'est-ce pas? :)
