TOD Thuggies from Around the World in 80 Days?

I was flipping through the channels on TV and I came across a cartoon version of Around the World in Eighty Days. There was a part where Fogg had to escape from a Cali (sp?) cult "temple". It sure sounded familiar. I don't know when this cartoon was made. Is this in the original ATWI80D story and did it influence TOD? Or did Indy, being so well known, find his way into the cartoon just to make it a little more action packed?
