: Abner, ILM is involved with just about EVERY film. Lucas observed the animation of the dinosaurs, but he had no true part. Just like Spielberg on the set of The Phantom Menace. He got to see all the special effects and everything, but he had no true part.


He did START the company, so just farting around watching the computer animations counts in my book. :) In one of the A&E biographies (I think of Spielberg) there is a short bit with George Lucas talking about the experiments to see if they could do the dinosaurs entirely digital, and how it was such a profound moment blah blah...Just because he didn't program computers doesn't mean he played no true part. At his level in the business most of what he does is critique the work of people under him.
