A longer focal length will compress the distances between objects while a short wide angle lens will make them look farther apart. A good example of where this effect could have been used more is the scene where they start digging for the Well of the Souls. They are right in front of the Germans! A wider lens would have helped make it look further away. These films are notoious for their continuity errors, though. I'm sure there are many many more to list, but In ToD You forgot the Mk VII bag that gets a whole burnt in it from the stones and then is back to normal!

Your forgetting something else you blooper dudes did notice with the bag scene. After Mola Ram fell already, Indy was able to put the satchel/bag back on really fast
