I read somewhere that Indy and the Lost Continent was going to be similar to Fate of Atlantis. Does this seem right? I think it would be very odd for Spielberg and Lucas to use something that they've already used for such a long-awaited movie. I mean, they start doling out the "cease and desist" orders if something even remotely comes close to something they want to do, so why would they make a movie out of a licensed game?
Also, I'm not sure Henry Sr. needs to be in the new one. I think the Indy movies actually have one thing going for them that not even the Star Wars trilogy has, in that they all stand on their own. You don't have to watch the first two to understand Last Crusade. At the same time, fans are treated with subtle in-jokes to previous movies without having to explain anything that has taken place in them.
I could see him maybe being in the prologue or a cameo as a nice tip of the fedora, but I don't really want the film to feel like it has any "excess baggage". (You know the scenario, a new character is introduced, a sequel comes along and they feel obligated to repeat the formula and add more of the same.) This is painfully evidenced in Batman and Robin, just to cite a recent example.
