I have the distressed leather (which is some kind of heavier hide I believe) as well as the new lambskin. Lambskin is authentic, but very light. If you want to get a jacket that is "heavy" than I suppose hide is the way to go. I wouldn't mind getting a "new" cowhide version at some point, but I don't know if the color would be as dark as the lambskin. Ask Peter. All I can say is, if you want it to LOOK like the jackets in the films Lambskin with cotton lining is the way to go.
