I've always been unclear about that thing with the whip under the truck also. It looks to me like the whip is hooked and not just a natural bend like a leather whip but like a steel-reinforced hook. I think it was a mistake for them to show the whip like they did. I guess they did it so we would know that it was indeed Indy's whip that he used to hang from the truck and not just a rope but I don't think it works. They should just have shown Indy jamming the handle between two metal parts of the trucks undercarriage.
