Hope this isn't too presumptous... Read your post about your family get-together with the 50+ crowd. I just thought perhaps it might be an interesting opportunity to quiz them on their younger years, a la Old Indy... Maybe there are some adventurous skeletons in the closet just waiting to pop out. It could be some groovy ethnohistorical research into decades past. I quizzed my own grandparents once and learned of some turn of the century surprises (nothing about mystical artifacts, though).
Either that or contact your local museum; maybe some ancient objects need tending during summer recess. Cheerio!
