I didn't take into account just how long it would take Indy to fly from South America to home and then to Nepal. I guess it would take several weeks in the 1930's. And it is possible that Indy was home for awhile before he talked to Marcus. I just assumed that the events in "Raiders" took place on a shorter time schedule.

Well, we all know what happens when you assume.
