I actually had to go buy a new modem. I was online Thursday when a sudden rainstorm came up. Lightning struck nearby and somehow zapped my modem (it disconnected abrubtly at the instant of the lightning and wouldn't reconnect after).

"There was a power spike, but the reactor SCRAMmed automatically.."
