There will be a new TV series starring Tia Carrere (Waynes's World). Here is the article:
'Indiana' Tia -- sexy and tough
by Jefferson Graham
USA Today
HOLLYWOOD, California--Tia Carrere doesn't make any bones about what she's trying to achieve with her new TV series. Relic Hunter is an action show, pure and simple.
The syndicated drama, which will air Saturdays at 8 pm on A-Channel this fall, casts Carrere as Sydney Fox, a history professor in search of rare artifacts and adventure, much like Indiana Jones.
Action Queen
"The tone of the show is sexy and tough," Carrere, 33, says in an interview in her trailer. "But she also kicks a--."
Carrere's film credits include Wayne's World, True Lies, Rising Sun, and the recent 20 dates, which she produced with husband Elie Samaha.
Being an action queen is great, she says. "To think that at the beginning of the century women couldn't vote. That just blows my mind. And now there are women on TV who are beating up men."
Carrere's Fox doesn't use a gun, preferring what she calls "environmental" action, such as hitting opponents over the head with chairs or plants, or throwing them down cliffs. "There's something disarming about a kick," she says.
Ford is idol
Her action idol is Indiana Jones, as played by Harrison Ford because "he's so cool. He's also more of a reluctant hero than (Carrere's character). Want me to jump off the side of a cliff? No problem. She's Indiana Jones mixed with Evel Knievel."
So... what do you guys think? Sounds kinda interesting. This one I'll have to check out when the show is on. But it won't be nearly as good as Indiana Jones, though.
