I too wear my stuff for the same reason. I don't have the money to run around buying every
single Indy item ever made ( even though I have been desperate to get
hold of a whip for the last 4 years), but I do have the jacket, t-shirts
hat and and a couple of other things. I don't run around dressed like
Indy, but I wear the stuff I can get away with, that doesn't make me look
like a complete arse.
The rest of the stuff is just nice 'to have'. Just like collecting
the rest of the gear, like books, soundtracks, and posters.
