: yes yes! Tolkien did indeed write "The Hobbit". In fact, you could consider "Lord of the Rings" to be something of a sequel to it. The four books fit together very nicely. Check them out!

And don't forget to read The Silmarillion, which is part prequel to The Hobbit & The Lord of the Rings trilogy, and part overview of The Hobbit & The Lord of the Rings trilogy. :)
