Here's my unsolicited opinion.
Christine Lahti is a fine actress, but I would judge her a little too serious to play any Jones' girl, and definitely too serious for the Sophia Hapgood role.
I am unfamiliar with Shari, uh, I mean Vicki Lewis as I have never seen NewsRadio. I did see Godzilla, but all I remember about it is that it was bad. I vaguely remember thinking that they cast a Sarah Jessica Parker lookalike to play opposite Matthew Broderick, and that is the only kind of memory I have about the female lead in that film
That being the case, I am guessing that Ms. Lewis just happens to have the bad luck of being caught once or twice in unflattering photos.
Catherine Mary Stewart wouldn't be very credible as the pseudo psychic Sophia, because her film roles (at least the two that I saw) were as very down to earth girls.
Somebody mentioned Gina Davis, and she came to mind briefly, but I think I'd have to pass on her too.
Nicole Kidman obviously has the looks and the hair color (That's what this all comes down to, right? We are racking our brains to think of red haired actresses)

My choice would be Penelope Anne Miller. She can play flaky very well, and Sophia Hapgood is most definitely a flake.
