It'd be a bit foolish to disregard the other medium other than the trilogy. In my opinion, the books, games, and the YIJC (though I admit I haven't seen even one of the episodes) only enhances the life of our favorite hero. As such, they should be taken as a part of the whole pie, and not an altogether different pie. They not only give us a good story about Indy, but they also gave him more humanity too.
