My infamous "light" pre-distressed Wested a Indygear has become light because the finish (dark part of the leather) keeps wearing off exposing the natural leather color. It must have been pre-distressed to much or something. If I were to get another hide jacket I'd ask for it to be non-distressed (If that's possible). But my jacket seems to be the exception rather than the rule.
