Ah, that would make sense to me. I guess its kind of like with the VHS/PAL thing for tapes- many people in Europe have VCRs that play both formats while in America we're pretty much all only-VHS VCRs. Despite manufacturers trying to fragment the market, Europeans still buy American tapes and laserdiscs, so why not DVDs? It's probably not illegal- just not the wishes of the entertainment industry. Personally I wish things were simple, with one format worldwide, but then what do I know? Gotta watch out for those Hong Kong pirates!

: You're only partly right. American DVD's can be played in Europe, but you must have a player without code. If you have the code, you can go to a DVD-Shop and they'll fix it... I'm not even sure if it's illegal.. Good luck!
