Shadows

Hey Guys,
I love this site!!! While watching raiders last night for the umpteenth time, I noticed that Spielburg and Lucas use shadows really extensively in Raiders. For example, In the "chalkboard scene", You can see Jones, who is in his professor outfit, cast a shadow on the chalkboard that is kind of ominous as the arks power is being discussed. Later in Nepal, the famous " i always knew you walk through my door" shadow scene. I think this has a deeper meaning than just an allusion to film noir. What do you folks think?
