Alden Shoes - Size of Foot (in inches)

Just curious if anyone who has a pair of Aldens could help me out. i live in Canada so I want to get the size right because it it kind of pricey to ship them here. I take a 10 1/2 - 11 depending on the brand of shoe. I am unsure if I should order an Alden 10 or 10 1/2. I usually wear a thick sock and measured my foor by standing on a piece of paper abd putting a mark where my big toe sat (with a sock on). It is just short of 11 inches (actually around 10.75). Would anybody be willing to do the same and give me their Alden boot size. I went to an orthopedic shoe place but it would cost more to buy the Aldens from them than to order them from the US. The guy there said probably a 10D would do but I want to get it right. When I had my foot measured with the measuring thing It fell right on the 10.

Anyways, any help would be greatly appreciated.
