Should I get the widescreen version?

I currently do not own any versions of the Indy films and am going to purchase them soon. I can't decide which version to buy. I have widescreen versions of Jaws and Close Encounters that were mastered in THX and the video quality is not that good. The images seem somewhat washed out and blurry. I am viewing them on a 27" Sony trinitron.
