The hat was not damaged by inspectors to my knowlegde. It was stuffed into a box that wa a bit too small for my taste so the front was crushed and the brim was all crooked.
Customs are a fact of life, kid. The U.S. Post Office will deliver your package with a bill for the customs charges. You have to pay them in order for them to give you your package. I live in NJ and the Post Office here is very persistent with their fees.
