OK, I'm sure everyone here knows this story of how the two made the
deal to make Indiana Jones on that fateful week Star Wars was
released, but there has always been this one thing that I wondered.
Here it is: Spielberg said to Lucas that he'd love to direct a James
Bond movie but United Artists didn't let them because they felt
Spielberg wasn't an experienced enough director (how wrong they were),
and then Lucas suggested something better than James Bond which is
Indy of course. My question is, what if UA ACTUALLY let Spielberg
direct one of the James Bond movies back in the 70s? Would there have
been an Indiana Jones series? Would the James Bond series have been
better? I think the Bond series with Spielberg at the helm would have
been awesome (not that the Bond series was getting bad), but I sort of
doubt that there would've been a Raiders of the Lost Ark and the
sequels and all the spinoffs. In a way, I guess I'm glad UA rejected
Spielberg and then did Indy, but I still would have loved to see
Spielberg take his crack at 007. What is your opinion on
