Not being a whip expert, I don`t know for sure, but I doesn`t seem to have hurt mine. At that time though, I was younger and didn`t own a David Morgan. I think an occassional swing to save your life wouldn`t hurt it. Especially if you are not that heavy and how well you wrap your target. Smiles-Jack
