Infernal machine

Great game....

could use a hand where i am stuck. I am stuck at the part after U ride the raft across the river. I shot the guards and think I have to go down the well but don't know how. I keep falling to my death.

The only other ways out i can find are back in the raft and across the bridge that isn't open.

Help would be appreciated.
