This confuses me...

In Indiana Jones and the TOD, Indy gets poisoned by Lao Che. I guess the poison is antedote, but what does it do and how come Indy had to recover it and drink the rest? If this question has ever been fielded before in the forum I missed it, but I would really like to know. Thanx!
