I agree. River was quoted as saying that he wasn't sure how to play the character, so he just watched Ford- and it shows. I caught the beginning of Crusade last week on Sci-fi, and studied his mannerisms. One that sticks out in my mind is when Henry Sr. tells him to count...in Greek. River's reaction is great, and very Ford-like.
