Need help conquering Quetzalcoatl, Infernal Machine Level 9

I have Azerim's part but can't seem to get any further....I've tried shooting the snake, whipping it, grenades :), can't seem to jump on it.....anybody know what to try next? Also, I can't figure out what the pressure plate in the end opposite the snake room does (other than clank when I step on it) I've been in this room with the snake for 2 days, it's starting to give me the creeps!
