But while Canada was probably the most industrialized of England's former colonial holdings, England was certainly not incapable of manufacturing her own goods - especially goods related to the homeland's defense. It would not have been in her strategic best interest to rely soley upon suppliers half a world away and totally dependent upon hard to defend ocean shipping lanes.-CP
