When I first heard the rumors about a search for a "Lost Continent", I thought that sounded interesting. (Of course it turned out to be nothing, as far as the film is concerned).

What I liked about it was that it seemed like something vast for Indy to be going after, not just another artifact. Indy's always been greatly interested in things that no one has seen for centuries, what better motivation than a lost civilization?

I would still like to see someone come up with something like this, although I'm really not sure how to best pull it off so that it's interesting.
