Basically, it means that major events can hinge upon little, seemingly insignificant details like the flapping of a butterfly's wings, and weather is a perfect example. The weather is one helluva chaotic system, and it can easily be changed based on whether the temperature is higher or lower, the humidity is higher or lower, imperfections in the clouds, that sort of thing. Think, if the bullet in Last Crusade hadn't richocheted in just the right place, the driver would have been fine, Indy would have died, the Nazis would have gotten the grail, and we would have lost WWII. All of that depends upon where the bullet goes. THAT'S chaos theory. (Sorry if I came off sounding a little high and mighty, but I just finished a project involving chaos theory, and the aftereffects are still with me.)
