Has anyone taken a Zippo lighter and painted a four leaf clover on it? Before you do consider getting a replica 1933 model from Zippo for $36, unless you can find an original from 1932-38. The replica will be limited to 5,000. Originals go for more than you could imagine, but if your lucky to come across one at a flea market or garage sale in some dirty, old cigar box look on the bottom for one of two markings: PAT. PENDING (1932-36 production) or PAT. 2032695 (1937-49 production.) These will have the brushed chrome finish; all WW 2 models have a black crackle finish, so they are out. The war production models also were marked PAT. #2032695 (note the # is added.)
