Jar Jar Binks, and indeed most of Episode 1 is what happens when George Lucas surrounds himself with cutting edge technology and forgets about a story. I don't want to dis the guy but Return of the Jedi was a real sign of what was to come. Cardboard human characters and funny aliens to make into figurines.
