Put in in the AGP or PCI slot, depending on what it is, and boot up... then install the drivers :).
As for quality, Nvidia's GeForce 256 is the best one right now. Of these, currently Creative 3D Annihilator Pro with DDRAM memory is the fastest card on the planet. But it's one of the most expensive models, too. As for the low priced cards, old Voodoos are the cheapest right now. But remember that these are old. Indy will run fine on an old Voodoo, but e.g. NFSPD 3 will get choppy with full details on. In that case it's better to take a look at something with Riva TNT2 M64, or Vanta. These give good results at a good price.
