: If this question has been asked before, sorry. I'm new here.
: When Indy and Elsa go down into the catacombs under the library and find the shield, Indy uses a torch to light their way. Yet when the Brothers of the Cruciform sword come along, one of them lights a match and Kaboom!, the whole place is gone up in flames. Indy himself remarks that the place smells of petroleum and he could sink a well there and retire. My question is, why were Indy and Elsa not singed the moment he lit the torch?
: It wasn't in the script! Remember, we're dealing with screenplay writers. Dr.Brody
