Aw man, that's hard luck - first thing I'd do after I swore a blue streak would be to see if it was the construction company's fault and have them pay for the repair. This happened to a friend of mine when he snagged his leather jacket on the door of a coffee shop; he saw the manager and they ponied up the dough.
